Root canals

Root Canal Treatment

A root canal is a dental procedure used to alleviate pain and remove a diseased nerve from the interior of a tooth in order to preserve it in the mouth.  The canals in the nerve chamber of the tooth are filed out, cleaned, then filled with gutta percha. Signs that you may have a diseased tooth and need a root canal can range from minimal to severe pain, tooth discoloration, swelling and irritation in the surrounding gum tissue, and signs of infection visible on a x-ray.  Once the root canal is finished, the tooth will be restored with a build-up and then a crown.
